In Weka Iti we have been learning about rubbish, recycling and compost as we have a bin in our classroom for each of these. We have been learning what goes in each bin and what happens to it after it goes in the bin. We then designed new signs to help us remember what goes in each bin. Thinking about what we throw away—like our recycling, rubbish, and compost—is one of the best ways we can show we care for our beautiful environment.
To help us get it right, we’ve turned each bin into a ‘Hungry Monster’—the Recycling Monster loves clean plastic and paper, the Compost Monster eats our fruit scraps, and the Rubbish Monster is the one we try to feed the least! Here are the signs we now have on our bins…..
