Our Weekly Poem

Every Friday we illustrate our poem that we write as a class. Our poems so far this year have been focussed on the sounds we have been learning. This week we had been learning about the /j/ sound and the /z/ sound. Here is the poem we wrote together.

This is us reading our poem.

We were challenged to try making the letter z with our body or bodies. These people did some awesome thinking.

And here are just some of the neat things there brought along for the sound bin for z.

Can you spot the zebras? The zip? The zucchini? The zero? Zoe?

The Lantern Parade

We had the opportunity to make a lantern for the lantern parade to be held on 6th June 2025. We choose what creature we wanted to make and the colour lantern we wanted. Unfortunately not everyone was able to have the colour or size lantern they wanted but we were all happy.

A very special thanks to West Reap for donating the lanterns and lights for us to use. Thanks to the help of the Creative Communities Grant and the Hokitika Community Trust for providing the funds to purchase these for us.

We thought our lanterns looked great. Check them out………….
